Felt Purse and Wallet project – 2005

“The project worked with groups in Sutton and Croydon in a series of free workshops using textile arts to make men’s and women’s wallets and purses from felt.

I run a dad’s drop in group. Shared Heritage came to our dads groups and with the dads and children created a beautiful collage. The children really benefited from the session surprisingly the boys and there was a lot of sewing and they had to be very creative. The dads also really enjoyed the project making butterfly’s out of  felt.

The collage has been on display in the Family Centre for the last 6
months and from the success of the last project Shared Heritage are
currently working with the dads group again and are enjoying every
minute of it
. This project has also brought mums and dads working together which has also made a huge impact on the children.”
